Getting to know Neck Art
What inspired you to start your business?
My mum started Neck Art in 2008 as it was something she could do in between work seasons. I followed in May 2012 when it was time to take it to the next level (online presence). I liked the idea of creating unique pieces of jewellery.
What is your handmade business all about?
We make unique hand-crafted jewellery and gifts for just about everyone. We strive to create different pieces that you will struggle to find elsewhere. Everything is individually handmade with attention to details.
What do you enjoy most about your business?
Apart from creating it would be meeting new people at markets and online. I love to be able to talk and interact directly with customers.
What is your favourite product to make?
It really depends on my mood! Sometimes I get in to the creative mind of beading and other times it's making pendants
How did you learn your craft?
From my mum
What handy hints do you have for people who are starting up a hand-made business? Do all your background work first, (logo, store banner, fill in your policies, etc), make sure your product photos give justice to your creations. Find some good lighting (I prefer outside in the sun), try to limit shadows to a bare minimum and get clear shots. Don't rush things, even if it's takes you a few weeks to set up prior to opening. If you have a facebook page you can build some hype about your store and have an opening night when you are ready to. Oh and make sure your listings have all the information the potential customer needs, the less questions they have then the easier their decision to buy is
What plans do you have for your business in the next year?
Continue to grow and get the Neck Art name 'out there'.
